Students in grades 3-5 will explore how 17th-century philosopher John Locke’s ideas on freedom and limited government influenced Thomas Jefferson’s writing of the Declaration of Independence. They will understand Locke and Jefferson's contributions to political philosophy and American history and analyze how written ideas can shape and influence history.
